SCRANTON - U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III will visit Scranton on Feb. 4 to raise money for his campaign to win a U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts.
The fundraiser will take place between 5:30 and 7 p.m. The local hosts for the fundraiser, who include Virginia and Bob McGregor, have not publicly disclosed the location.
Kennedy is a grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy Sr., a U.S. attorney general and U.S. senator in New York. He is also the great-nephew of President John F. Kennedy. President Kennedy’s 1960 visit to Scranton before his election remains a fond memory to many local Democrats.
Kennedy faces longtime incumbent Sen. Edward Markey for the Democratic nomination in the Sept. 5 Massachusetts primary.
