Man swung hammer at brother, police say
SCRANTON - A Jermyn man was arrested Tuesday night after whacking his brother with a hammer during an argument in the parking lot of Geisinger Community Medical Center.
Shane Privett, 28, 396 Gibson St., originally picked up a rock when his brother Richard Privett tried to break up an argument between him and Richard's wife, then dropped the rock and went to the trunk of his car to retrieve a hammer, police said.
Shane Privett swung the hammer about four times, striking his brother once and leaving a mark on his lower back, police said.
He was charged with harassment and simple assault, but arraignment and bail information were unavailable Wednesday morning.
