SOUTH CANAAN TWP. - A Wayne County road has reopened after it closed early Wednesday morning after a crash which led to power outages and the closing of Western Wayne High School for the day.

State Route 296 in South Canaan Twp. reopened at about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 196, the Easton Turnpike, said state Department of Transportation spokesman James May.

The crash also knocked out power to 1,600 PPL Electric Utilities customers when the vehicle involved in the crash struck a utility pole at about 3:30 a.m., spokesman Rich Beasley said.

About 1,300 customers are still without power, but should have it restored by around noon, Mr. Beasley said.
