If Frank Mittmann gets his wish, the Lackawanna Home Builders Association will be back in the Mall at Steamtown next year.

After experiencing what he described as one of the most successful showcases in years, Mr. Mittmann said the association has every intention of coming back to the mall for a second year.

"I don't think it's the increase in the housing market as much as it is the location," said Mr. Mittmann, the director of the association, referring to why this year's home showcase was so successful. "In addition to the people who planned to come here, you get the people who just came here looking to shop."

On Sunday, hundreds of people looking to remodel their home or build a new one swarmed the more than 50 vendors located inside the mall.

While many others focused on kitchen, basement or roofing improvements, Erica and Mike Bibak of Archbald eyed the Jacuzzi sold by Valley Pools & Spas.

"We both had one in our last home and have been craving one since we bought our house," Mrs. Bibak said. "It's the reason we came."

Donald and Maron Bielovitz were looking to upgrade their kitchen countertop and considered a few granite options.

"We don't normally do a lot of remodeling work, because our house isn't all that old, but this seemed like a great opportunity to see what is out there," Mrs. Bielovitz said.
