Steamtown's Brennan to retire from National Park Service

SCRANTON - Mark Brennan, the official spokesman at Steamtown National Historic Site, will retire Dec. 30 after almost 25 years with the National Park Service.

Mr. Brennan, a Carbondale native, is Steamtown's division chief for interpretation, visitor services. He was the park's first chief of rail operations from 1989 to 2006. He also managed a $3 million dollar environmental remediation project and served as the park's environmental specialist. Promoted to his current position in 2006, he also serves as the park's public affairs and public information officer.

An extensive search to fill Mr. Brennan's position will begin in January, Superintendent Kip Hagen said.
