N.J. man charged in city robbery
SCRANTON - City police charged a New Jersey man Saturday with a robbery that occurred in West Side about a week earlier.
Hasab Waldron, 22, 141 S. Sixth St., Newark, approached Michael Thomas as he walked in the 100 block of North Bromley Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on July 26 and asked him for money, according to the complaint.
Mr. Thomas said he did not have any money, so Mr. Waldron told him to get into his car and drove him to an ATM, where he forced Mr. Thomas to withdraw $10 and give it to him before driving him home, according to the complaint.
He was charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property and was sent to Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail after a Saturday arraignment.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
