Waverly expects no tax increase
WAVERLY TWP. - Waverly Twp. won't see a tax increase for the 2013 budget, supervisors said at Monday night's meeting.
Although details of the budget were not available, the total millage will remain at 12.25. A mill is a $1 tax for every $1,000 in assessed property value. The average residential assessed value is $31,441.
Supervisors said they were still negotiating with the police union to solidify salaries for the upcoming year, but that negotiations shouldn't have much effect on the proposed budget.

Skrepenak pens apology in column
WILKES-BARRE - In a message to fellow University of Michigan alumni in a university magazine, two-time All-American turned politician turned convicted felon Gregory Skrepenak describes his "shame" and "guilt" over the corruption case that sent him to federal prison for 19 months.
Describing himself as "humbled and sorry," the former Luzerne County commissioner recalls the bitterness of being separated from his children while in prison and his now-shattered ambitions of running for Congress or governor some day.
The column published in this month's LSA Magazine is the first time the former NFL lineman has addressed his conviction in writing.
Mr. Skrepenak, 42, pleaded guilty to taking $5,000 from a developer who secured government financing through the county. He was released from a federal halfway house in June.
