Scranton police continue to search for a city woman who has been missing since Oct. 27 after she was last seen walking out of a West Side beauty parlor.
City police deployed four search-and-rescue dogs from a company in Ithaca, N.Y., on Friday in the neighborhood in an attempt to find Sharon Price, 62.
The dogs, which are trained to find the scent of person dead or alive, were walked through her Rear 414 14th Ave. home, beside nearby vehicles, throughout West Scranton, and around McDade Park along Snake Road into the Ransom Twp. area.
"It's still a missing persons case," Detective Capt. Al Leoncini said Monday. "We have nothing indicating foul play at this time."
Mrs. Price, who is partially blind and schizophrenic, was seen leaving a hair salon at 1431 Luzerne St. at about 6 p.m. She was walking back home, which is near the hair salon.
"Every time I hear that phone ring, I think, 'Please let that be her, please let that be her,' " said her husband, Tom Price Sr., who reported her missing.
Police brought in the dogs from New York because they are better trained to finding missing people than the city Police Department's dogs, Capt. Leoncini said. All missing persons cases are treated as suspicious, he said, until proved otherwise.
The dogs did not find any trace of Mrs. Price, and the case has been assigned to the city's detective division. Several interviews have been conducted.
"That's where we are today. ... We're still actively searching," he said when asked about their next step. "We can't get into every aspect of the investigation. There's only certain things I can put out there publicly."
Mrs. Price is 5 feet 3 inches tall and was wearing a pink shirt, black pants and blue shoes.
