Police look for bank robber in Blakely

BLAKELY - He didn't say a word.

On Tuesday, an armed robber walked into Penn Security Bank and Trust about 3:44 p.m., handed the teller a note, flashed the gun he had under his jacket and, after taking an unknown amount of money, walked out the front door.

The robbery at the bank at 540 Main St. took about three minutes, Blakely Police Chief Guy Salerno said.

"I couldn't tell you the last time we had a bank robbery in Blakely," Chief Salerno said.

The borough is home to three banks, including a PNC

directly across the street. After investigating at Penn Security Bank and Trust on Tuesday, officers asked PNC employees if they had seen the robber.

It is unclear whether or not the suspect fled on foot or in a car, but given the location and the time of day, Chief Salerno is hopeful someone saw him.

"It was quarter to four on a weekday on Main Avenue," Chief Salerno said. "Hopefully, he was seen."

The robber was described as a white male, possibly in his 40s between 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, approximately 185 pounds, a large nose and was wearing a black hat, black jacket and dark pants.

Anyone with information should call borough police at 383-3346.
