SCRANTON - Assistant U.S. Attorney William Houser will oversee the handling of complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses in Northeast Pennsylvania for the Nov. 6 election.
U.S. Attorney Peter J. Smith on Tuesday appointed Mr. Houser as assistant district election officer for the U.S. attorney's Scranton office.
Federal authorities will respond "promptly and aggressively" to complaints of fraud or discrimination to protect the integrity of the election process, Mr. Smith said. The FBI will have special agents available to receive allegations.
