SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. - A woman died this afternoon when her car veered off Country Club Road, struck a guard rail and burst into flames, police said.
The victim was in her late 50s, Police Chief Robert Gerrity said. She will not be identified until next of kin are notified.
A witness driving behind the victim said her car suddenly swerved and hit the guard rail, immediately catching fire, Chief Gerrity said. Passersby stopped and extinguished the flames with a hand-held extinguisher, he said.
