Wilkes-Barre police are investigating a shooting that happened early Monday morning in the Parsons section of the city.
Police say they were called to the area of 99 George Ave. about 2:20 a.m. to a report of shots fired.
Employees of Hun’s Cafe 99 reported to police that they confronted an unknown patron after he tried to leave the establishment with beverages another customer had purchased.
The man “spewed a series of verbal insults then spat in the face of an employee” before leaving the area on foot, police said in a statement.
As employees followed behind him, the man fired a single shot from what appeared to be a handgun, police said. No injuries or damage were reported.
Police searched the area but were unable to find the gunman. Police did not release a detailed description.
The investigation is continuing.
