SALEM TWP. - Operators reconnected the Unit 1 reactor at PPL's Susquehanna nuclear power plant to the regional electric grid on Friday, the utility said.
PPL officials have said the disconnection was part of a scheduled outage to install turbine modifications in the first phase of a long-term plan to resolve turbine blade issues over the past several years.
Unit 2 returned to service June 5, having completed a refueling and maintenance outage, the utility said.
"We will continue to monitor the performance of the turbines on both units over the next few years," said Timothy Rausch, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer, in a prepared statement.
