Upvalley to get new water mains
CARBONDALE - Several roads in Carbondale, Carbondale Twp. and Mayfield will receive new water mains to improve service reliability and increase water flow for fire protection, Pennsylvania American Water Co. said Friday.
The $1.9 million project will begin Monday with the installation of 10,000 feet of iron pipe. Work will be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, replacing pipe from the early 1900s.
Roads will include Business Route 6 from Old Plank Road to Birch Avenue in Mayfield, and Old Plank Road, Cottage Street and Greenfield Road in Carbondale. Transfer of services is expected to be completed by January, with final paving restorations by spring, according to a news release.
