Dunmore school officials are planning a handful of infrastructure and equipment upgrades for district buildings this summer that are projected to cost at least $75,750.
The most expensive item Superintendent Richard McDonald and business administrator Antoinette Lopatka laid out among expected work was the $26,000 replacement of 30 computers at Dunmore Elementary Center's computer lab.
Other planned technology upgrades include replacing 20 laptop computers that are breaking down for $10,000.
The laptops being replaced were initially bought when the state Department of Education awarded the district $209,743 under the Classrooms for the Future grant program in 2007.
School officials said at the time the money would allow the district to buy 218 student laptop computers, 16 teacher computers and 17 projectors, webcams, smartboards and printers.
Other upcoming work includes carpeting and tile replacement totaling about $20,000 at Dunmore Elementary Center.
Mr. McDonald highlighted a school entryway change, but declined to discuss details, citing security concerns, and the pair said tinting of elementary school windows for $5,940 has already been done.
The administrators are also planning to spend $7,500 to bring gym bleacher railings up to safety code, $7,500 for 60 new desks, $4,000 on a new copier for the high school, $750 to replace broken chairs and $750 to repair upholstery of broken chairs.
In longer-term issues, Mr. McDonald recently told the school board the administration was planning to bring Dunmore Roofing & Supply Co. in to evaluate the elementary center's roof, which "had a couple leaks over the winter."
The superintendent said the roof is 17 or 18 years old, and he hopes it last seven or eight more years.
