The body that washed up on the Pike County shoreline of Lake Wallenpaupack has been identified as Jeffrey Carl Kochis, state Fish and Boat Commission press secretary Eric Levis said.

Mr. Kochis had been missing since Saturday when fishermen reported seeing the empty boat of Mr. Kochis, 33, of Jefferson Twp., who had been fishing alone near Shuman's Point around 3:15 p.m., state police at Honesdale said.

Mr. Kochis' body was recovered around 8 a.m. Monday, when it floated to the surface of the lake, said Ledgedale Fire Company dive team Capt. Joe Sledzinski.

Pike County Chief Deputy Coroner Chris Brighton ruled the death as an accidental drowning.

Exactly how the accident happened is not clear yet, Mr. Levis said. "No, we don't know at this time," Mr. Levis said in an email. "It is still being investigated."
