UNICO inaugural pig roast fun time

Fiorelli's in Blakely provided the setting as the Keystone Chapter of UNICO National celebrated its first anniversary with an inaugural charity pig roast.

Peter Noto, general chairman, was assisted by Cathy Bianchi, Mary DePalma and Michele McDade, co-chairwomen, in planning the event. The Children's Advocacy Center of NEPA was the event's primary beneficiary.

The evening began with a greeting by "Sweet Charity," the Charity Pig Roast character, a.k.a. Shirley Siragusa. Dani-elle provided vocals during the open bar cocktail hour.

Mark E. McDade, master of ceremonies, introduced Peter Noto, who gave the welcome. The Rev. Joseph Cipriano gave the invocation. Ray Tropeano led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The pig roast theme carried through the evening with papier-mâché pig centerpieces created by students of Scranton High teacher David Schulte, coupled with chocolate treats and a display of three perfectly roasted pigs. An Italian buffet followed complete with Italian cookies and an espresso bar.

Raffle prizes included a money umbrella and a mystery pig filled with money.

Danny Argo and Kenny "G" entertained with dinner and dancing music.

UNICO National members attending the inaugural event included Glenn Pettinato, immediate past national president; Chip Calabro, eastern regional governor chairman; Tom Gatto, PA II district governor; Joe Cerullo, PA I district governor; Joseph Pierangeli, Wilkes-Barre chapter president; and Jerry Arnese, Patricia Calabro, Yvonne Gatto and Terri Pettinato, representing the Carbondale chapter, which sponsored the chartering of the Keystone Chapter just one year ago.
