Meet ... Dylan Kilbride Brown

School: Delaware Valley High School

Parents: Carla Barnett Brown and Robert Brown

Plans: To attend the Air Force Academy to major in aeronautical engineering.

Dylan Brown, who takes takes full advantage of his education and gives back to his community, is on the path to greatness.

A varsity football player, and first team all-league defensive end, Dylan says team camaraderie makes it all worthwhile.

"When you step on the field and know that the guy walking out next to you has your back, as you have his, it is unbeatable."

Dylan also helped lead the varsity lacrosse team to the District 2 championship, serves on the Athletic Leadership Council and is a counselor at Warrior Kids Camp and youth lacrosse clinics.

Enrolled in three advanced placement courses and Senior Research Science Seminar, Dylan was named an AP Scholar.

"He is a very involved young man who gives 110 percent to his activities," his school counselor, Wanda Holtzer, said.

He is the president and sergeant-at-arms of student council, where he helped organize a food drive; president of the National Honor Society, student representative to the school board and an executive board member of the political awareness club.

Dylan has represented his school twice at the regional Future Business Leaders of America Conference, taking home first place in the computer problem solving category as a sophomore; and second place in public speaking as a junior.

He competed in Odyssey of the Mind and was a member of Model United Nations.

He contributed to the Toys for Tots campaign, volunteered at the Special Olympics and helped out on several political campaigns.

"I love to follow both domestic and global politics and news," said Dylan. "It is too interesting and it is always changing."

Two weeks after graduation Dylan will start living his "lifelong dream" when he heads to Colorado to attend the Air Force Academy.

"My grandfather was an engineer on a B-17 Flying Fortress, who flew 33 missions over Germany during World War II; following in his footsteps of service is an opportunity I am humbled by and grateful for," Dylan said, adding, "I hope to take what life throws at me and turn it into something great."
