OLD FORGE - The Old Forge School Board voted Wednesday to issue a non-renewal of contract letter to business manager Anthony Spadoni, though board members in favor of the action did not elaborate on why.
The board voted 4-3 to send the letter and to post the business manager position. Eugene Talerico, Katherine Stocki and Ronald Stacchiotti all voted against the motion. Voting for it were Patrick Dattilo, Gary Goodall, James Hoover and Christopher Jones. Marygrace Mailen and Deborah DeSando were absent.
Ms. Stocki said although the vote represented the majority of the members at Monday's meeting, it did not represent the majority of the board members' opinion as a whole. She questioned the legality of the passed motion, saying it had only received four votes.
District solicitor Joseph Mariotti said the motion was not one that required five affirmative votes.
The board also voted to appoint the current district attendance officer and substitute officer as permanent, armed security personnel for the district at their current rate of $13.92 an hour.
Additionally, the board voted to enter into a contract with Sandra Lamanna for school psychologist services on an as-needed basis at a rate of $425 an hour while the school psychologist is out on leave. They also voted to accept the resignation of assistant varsity football coach Michael Cusumano and post the open coaching position.
Also at the meeting, the school board announced it is considering starting a girl's golf team at the high school, which would cost between $2,000 and $3,000 to create, but have not made a decision yet.
