DENNISON TWP. - A teenager was rescued by firefighters and ambulance personnel after getting stuck up to his waist in mud Sunday afternoon at a state park in Luzerne County.
The teen was walking in Nescopeck State Park with family and friends in a drained lake, a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources park ranger said. As he struggled to get out, the boy appeared to sink deeper into the mud until it reached his waist, the ranger said.
He was rescued after about 40 minutes by six firefighters and White Haven Ambulance personnel, Dennison Twp. Fire Chief Jay Marotta said. Rescuers placed a ladder and boards on the surface and pulled the teen out by hand, the chief said.
