A Montrose man facing sexual assault charges stemming from incidents nearly 10 years ago was granted a continuance in Lackawanna County Central Court on Friday morning.
Police said Donald Whitmire, 23, was a teenager when he forced a male victim, then about 6 or 7 years old, to perform manual and oral sex on him in the bed the two shared.
The victim, now 18, said his family was living with friends and was forced to share a bed with the defendant for about two months. The victim told police Mr. Whitmire would try to sexually assault him every night in the bed, including attempting anal sex, although the act was not completed, according to a criminal complaint.
In a July interview with Mr. Whitmire, he admitted he touched and masturbated the victim on about five separate occasions and made the victim masturbate him about five times, police said. He made the victim perform oral sex on him one or two times and tried to perform oral sex on the victim at least two times, according to the complaint.
The Times-Tribune does not identify victims of sexual assault.
Mr. Whitmire was released from Lackawanna County Prison on $10,000 bail last week. There was no information Friday on his new preliminary hearing date.
