75 years ago, Rhys Davis, member of British Parliament, spoke at the First Welsh Baptist Church, West Scranton. Mr. Davis talked about the dangers of communism and fascism and what war would look like in the future in Europe.
50 years ago, a storm overnight toppled a 40-foot tree onto two cars on the 600 block of Clay Avenue. A man sitting in one of the vehicles was slightly injured in the crash.
25 years ago, two Dunmore men were arrested after getting into a fight with Scranton Police at Bentley's Restaurant at the Contempri Inn. The men were causing a disturbance at the restaurant.
10 years ago, WYOU & WBRE-TV said they would not air a Republican political ad attacking U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski, saying the ad was potentially libelous. The ad suggested Mr. Kanjorski secured federal money for a company owned by a family member.
