Imprisoned man's home burglarized
SCRANTON - A North Scranton man's apartment was discovered burglarized Monday while he was jailed on driving-under-the-influence charges.
Jeffrey Russell's landlord at 412 Cayuga St. went to check on the property on Monday knowing that the 41-year-old tenant had been in Lackawanna County Prison without bail since Jan. 19.
Mr. Russell was initially arrested Jan. 8 on DUI charges. After his release on Jan. 17 on unsecured bail, he was returned to prison after violating the conditions of his bail two days later. Police acting Capt. Glen Thomas said a burglar apparently broke into Mr. Russell's home through the front door and stole the stove and a $350 aquarium.
