CARBONDALE - A small fire in a laundry room at a senior living community left minimal damage and no one injured Sunday morning.
Carbondale firefighters responded around 9:30 a.m. to Osprey Ridge Healthcare Center, where they found smoke pouring from an industrial washing machine that had briefly caught fire, Fire Chief Thomas Brennan said.
The fire was confined to the single washer, and staff members shut off power and closed the door. Because the fire was contained quickly, there was no need to evacuate residents, Chief Brennan said.
Chief Brennan couldn't provide an estimate of the number of residents. He said the fire was electrical, but he couldn't confirm the exact cause.
