-âAppointments are required for service offered by United Way volunteers at the Carbondale Senior Community Center, the Valley Community Library in Peckville, the Taylor Community Library, the Abington Volunteer Fire Company, the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce in Honesdale and Woodloch Pines in Hawley. Appointments also are required for a special kick-off session on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3 and for a session on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Scranton. -âAccounting students at Wilkes University's Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership will offer free tax assistance Feb. 9, 16 and 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the first floor of Breiseth Hall, 137 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. -âThe AARP Foundation, along with the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library, Mountain Top, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, also will provide tax preparation and e-filing for area residents on Mondays starting Feb. 4 and continuing through April 8. To make appointments, call 678-5436 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday. The library is not scheduling appointments.
