School drug policy in court next month
MILFORD - A Pike County judge will hear oral arguments over Delaware Valley School District's controversial student drug-testing policy on Feb. 25.
The action stems from an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit against the Pike County district in 2011.
The suit asked President Judge Joseph F. Kameen to issue an injunction prohibiting the district from conducting initial mandatory and random alcohol and drug tests for students participating in extracurricular activities.
The judge later issued a preliminary injunction. The hearing next month will determine if it becomes permanent.
