Regional force will be studied
PITTSTON - Six communities in the Greater Pittston area have filed letters of intent with the state for a regional police study.
The state Department of Community and Economic Development has begun gathering information on policing costs, assets and other relevant information.
Letters were filed by Pittston, Dupont, Duryea, Avoca, Laflin and Hughes-town. Jenkins Twp. also may join in a study, which would then involve Yatesville, because Jenkins Twp. provides policing in Yatesville.
Pittston Manager Joseph Moskovitz said the towns anticipate approval of a state-funded study.
