Lew picked to lead Treasury
President Barack Obama nominated White House chief of staff Jack Lew to be secretary of the Treasury. Mr. Lew has three decades of Washington experience in economic policy and a penchant for shunning the limelight, The Associated Press reported.
Business hopes to expand
Crown Display Manufacturing on Ann Street in West Pittston, which manufactures and sells party supplies, wants to expand and add more than 12 new jobs immediately and more jobs over time. It is seeking $350,000 in gaming funds for an approximately $1 million project.
Cestone files for bankruptcy
Michael G. Cestone filed for bankruptcy, counting $60,230 of deferred compensation with First National Community Bank as an asset. The bank said Mr. Cestone, a former bank director who had been involved in the construction industry through family enterprises, has not been paid any deferred compensation and is unlikely to receive any.
BP wind farm operational
BP Wind Energy said its $250 million wind project, which includes 88 wind turbines over a 9,000-acre stretch of Wyoming County, is running. It is expected to generate enough electricity for 40,000 homes annually.

'Heroes' sought at job fair
Nearly 200 people showed up at the "Hiring Our Heroes - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre" job fair at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The fair was hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's National Chamber Foundation and local chambers.

IRS to get late start
The Internal Revenue Service said it would start processing individual tax returns on Jan. 30, eight days later than it had planned, because of various changes to tax laws made in the "fiscal cliff" deal. April 15 is still the deadline to file.
Mt. Pocono could get water park
Construction could begin within months on a $350 million water park resort near Mount Pocono. Officials representing Kalahari Resorts on Thursday unveiled development plans for the proposed 150-acre complex in Monroe County that eventually could employ up to 1,500 people.
