Citizens Savings Bank
Debra Carr has joined the bank as branch manager of its Taylor location. Mrs. Carr has worked in the banking industry for 20 years. She attended Wilkes College and St. Francis College studying accounting and business management. She lives in Peckville with her husband, J. Warren Carr, and five children.
Mary Welby has been promoted to compliance/BSA officer. Ms. Welby joined the bank in October 1986 as a teller. Ms. Welby earned her bachelor's degree in finance management from Penn State University. She also completed the bank management certificate at the Center for Financial Studies at Fairfield University. In this new position, Ms. Welby will be responsible for developing, implementing and administering all aspects of the bank's compliance management program.
Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
Kara Deutsch has been selected as the new chief of resource management and science at the park. Ms. Deutsch has worked as a natural resource specialist for the National Park Service at Delaware Water Gap for the past seven years. She will be responsible for supervising a staff of 10 scientists and other professionals. Ms. Deutsch is a 1998 graduate of Penn State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in geography, with specialization in urban and regional development. A native of Northeast Pennsylvania, she and her husband, Greg, live in Pike County.
Duchnik's Towing
David Duchnik of Scott Twp. received the prestigious American Towman ACE Award for achievement in service performance. Recipients were nominated by the nation's major motor clubs and dispatch centers. ACE recipients rank in the top 1 percent of the towing industry's service providers.
East Stroudsburg University
Caroline Kuchinski, Ph.D., professor of physical education, has been selected by the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance as its 2012 Elmer B. Cottrell Award winner. The award is the highest award bestowed upon a member of the organization. Dr. Kuchinski has been teaching for 20 years at the university and is the coordinator for the graduate program in health and physical education. Dr. Kuchinski received a Bachelor of Science in health and physical education from ESU in 1980, a Master of Science in health education from ESU in 1986, and her Ph.D. in human development: instructional leadership from Marywood University in 2003. Dr. Kuchinski lives in Cresco, with her husband, Kevin. She has one son, Scott.

Drew Hires has been named senior art director. Mr. Hires, who moved from Bethel, Conn., to Hawley, earned a BFA in graphic design from Rider University. He is the father of Drew Von Hires, a recent graduate of the University of Connecticut, and Kate Hires, a sophomore at the University of Connecticut. His interests include soccer and fishing.

Krista Kutney, D.P.M., podiatrist, joined InterMountain Medical Group. Dr. Kutney received her bachelor's degree from King's College and her medical degree from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia. She completed her podiatric residency at Kennedy Memorial Hospital/University Medical Center, Stratford, N.J. She is a specialist in the diagnosis and medical/surgical treatment of foot disorders.
King's College
John Loyack, a Pittston native and 1985 King's graduate, has been named vice president for business affairs and treasurer at the college. Mr. Loyack will be responsible for managing and improving the college's financial process systems; overseeing the business, human resources, facilities, security and information technology offices; and coordinating the planning and implementation of all campus construction, renovation and repair projects. Mr. Loyack has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from King's and an MBA from Lehigh University. He is also a certified public accountant. He is married to the former Suzanne Kmiec and has three children.
The Rev. Anthony Grasso, C.S.C., professor of English, coordinated the northeast regional meeting of the Conference on Christianity and Literature at the college. The theme of the meeting was "Christianity in the Public Square: Literatures of Politics, Protest and Social Justice."

Michael J. O'Brien has joined the board of directors of the Employment Opportunity & Training Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania. He serves in the Army National Guard Judge Advocate General's Corps. A graduate of Scranton Preparatory High School and Georgetown University, Mr. O'Brien received his Juris Doctor degree from Temple University School of Law.

Christian Conroy, state director, has been elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Small Business Development Centers for a two-year term through 2014. During the coming year, Mr. Conroy and the association will focus on educating stakeholders on the critical role of the program in the nation's economic development infrastructure. Mr. Conroy earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Albany and a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.

Nicholas Pronko has earned the distinction of graduate gemologist designated by the Gemological Institute of America. Mr. Pronko along with his father, David Pronko, are the owners of Steve Pronko Diamonds Inc. He is a resident of Jefferson Twp., with his wife, Alyse, and son, Alexander. In addition, Mr. Pronko has been recognized as a registered jeweler by the American Gem Society.
United Way of Pennsylvania
William M. Jones, president and CEO of the United Way of Wyoming Valley, has been elected to the board of the United Way of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Jones joined the United Way of Wyoming Valley in January and has just completed his first annual fundraising campaign as the organization's chief executive officer. The campaign raised $4.1 million, an increase of $70,000 over the 2011 campaign. Mr. Jones lives in Mountaintop with his wife, Janet, and daughters Caroline and Rachel.
University of Scranton
Gretchen J. Van Dyke, Ph.D., associate professor of political science, has been elected to a four-year term on the national board of the Lilly Fellows Program in Humanities and the Arts. Dr. Van Dyke is in her 19th year teaching international relations at the university since completing a master's and Ph.D. in foreign affairs at the University of Virginia Charlottesville, Va.

Robert Dompkosky, D.O., has joined the medical staff. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Dompkosky earned his bachelor's degree from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, and his medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, Des Moines, Iowa. He completed internal medicine residencies with the Scranton-Temple Residency Program, Scranton, and the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.

Attorney Thomas P. Brennan was presented with the association's president's award, the highest recognition that any lawyer or judge can receive in Luzerne County. Mr. Brennan is a graduate of Maryknoll College (Seminary) and a magna cum laude graduate of King's College. He attended Villanova University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1973. Mr. Brennan is married to the former Ann Frances Gallagher. They have four children: Thomas, an attorney and a law professor at Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago; Erin, an attorney and partner with Oliver, Price & Rhodes in Clark Summit; Joseph, an attorney and associate with Graham, Curtin in Morristown, N.J.; and Ann, an instructor in English at Penn State, Wilkes-Barre/Lehman Campus. Mr. Brennan is the grandparent of twin boys.
