The former Bunnell’s Hardware building at 306 S. State St., Clarks Summit, has been sold to a partnership that plans to renovate the building, adding to the changes in that part of the borough.
State Street Realty LLC purchased the building for $265,000, according to Lackawanna County records. The company lists the same Clarks Summit address as Lawrence Young Funeral Home. Stephen Young has been identified as a partner.
The agent involved with the transaction, Chris O’Boyle of O’Boyle Real Estate in Clarks Summit, said the owners plan to convert the second floor to several apartments and are looking for ground-level retail tenants.
Bunnell’s, a century-old business, closed in December 2013.
“It’s sad to see a business like that go away, but we are happy that the building went to local owners with a vested interest in the area,” Mr. O’Boyle said.
That portion of the borough’s business district is changing fast. The Nyx, a new bar restaurant, opened recently at 218 Depot St. Depot Street is slated for improvements that will add new street lighting and improved sidewalks.
