DeSando back as board chief
OLD FORGE - Deborah DeSando is still president of the Old Forge Board of Education, after a 7-2 vote at Wednesday night's reorganization meeting.
Board members Marygrace Mailen and Katherine Stocki voted no.
Ms. Mailen cited a lack of items received for review for the budget, a lack of communication on the board and having several family members employed in the district for voting against Mrs. DeSando's appointment.
Mrs. DeSando said the board receives a weekly update from the superintendent, who is always available by phone - as is the rest of the board.
Mrs. DeSando added that her husband is currently a qualified substitute attendance officer.
Ronald Stacchiotti was unanimously re-elected as vice president.
By a 7-2 vote, the board agreed to meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the high school. Board members Katherine Stocki and Eugene Talerico voted no.
