SCRANTON - Lackawanna County will usher in the holidays with the lighting of the county Christmas tree on Thursday evening at Courthouse Square.
The festivities kick off at 5:45 p.m. with carols by the Robert Dale Chorale, followed by a brief formal program at 6. The winners of Scranton Tomorrow's Window Decorating Showcase will be announced. There will be free refreshments.
Horse-drawn carriage rides through the downtown will be offered from 5:30 to 7:30. The rides will be free to all who make a donation to the county Children and Youth Services' Adopt-an-Angel program, which provides gifts to children the agency serves.
