Man charged with simple assault
DUNMORE - A New Jersey man is facing charges after throwing his father-in-law to the ground Saturday night, Dunmore police said.
Joseph Harrell, 40, of Bloomfield, N.J., was with his father-in-law, Thomas Stepnosky, 65, at 310 W. Elm St., having a few drinks and discussing family matters, Patrolmen Brian Lynady and Anthony Cali reported.
Police said Mr. Harrell smashed Mr. Stepnosky to the floor and shook him for a few minutes before trying to flee in a taxi.
He is charged with two counts of simple assault, three counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of harassment. Bail and preliminary hearing details were not available Saturday.
