Diamond City group hires exec
WILKES-BARRE - The Diamond City Partnership Board has hired Larry Newman to serve as its new full-time executive director.
Mr. Newman, 43, will leave his current position as vice president of planning, policy and development at the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry and start his new full-time position on Monday. The position is new to the organization.
Mr. Newman, 43, has worked for the chamber for the past nine years and has nearly 20 years of urban planning, economic development and historic preservation experience in both the public and private sectors.
Elizabeth Graham, chairwoman of the Diamond City Partnership Board, would not say how much Mr. Newman will be paid, but a proposed budget for the business improvement district lists expenses at a total of $372,000, with costs for administration at $78,000.
