CLIFTON TWP. - Two men are dead after a car crash in Big Bass Lake, Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland said.
Robert Kwasnik, 25, Brooklyn, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-car crash into a utility pole and large rocks that threw him through the front passenger side window. He was not wearing a seat belt, Mr. Rowland said.
His stepbrother, Mariusz Pecio, 39, of 75 Sheffick Drive, Clifton Twp., who was driving, left the crash scene and was later discovered dead from a gunshot wound that Mr. Rowland believes was not the result of foul play.
Also in the car was Daniel Kwasnik, 27, who was treated and released from Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, hospital spokeswoman Wendy Wilson said.
The incident remains under investigation by state police at Dunmore.
Autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
