One injured in three-car crash

BRIDGEWATER TWP. - One person suffered minor injuries after a three-car crash on Wyalusing Street in Susquehanna County on Friday morning.

State police at Gibson said Lawrence Rudock, 18, of Hallstead, was traveling west on Route 706 just after 7 a.m. when he encountered a steering mechanism failure and drifted into the center of the road, striking an SUV driven by David Calla, 20, of Montrose.

One of Mr. Calla's tires blew on impact, causing him to spin into the path of a vehicle driven by Jeremy Bajkowski, 26, of Hallstead, which struck Mr. Calla's passenger side and pushed him into a ditch.

Mr. Calla, who suffered minor injury, was not taken to the hospital, police said.

Job cuts coming to Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE - The job cuts are here.

Mayor Tom Leighton has identified job cuts that will soon impact the city's union workers unless last-minute concessions are made, the city's spokesman said Friday.

"The administration has identified employee cuts across all four bargaining units. We have notified the respective union leaders of the cuts," said Drew McLaughlin, city spokesman.

The specific number of job cuts looming was not revealed Friday.

"We're not releasing the number of cuts until the union leaders have had time to inform the members. They are also tentative employee cuts, as we expect union leaders to respond next week to the possibility of reconsidering the concessions that could offset some of the layoffs," Mr. McLaughlin said.
