An Olyphant woman was sentenced Tuesday to serve 90 days in prison for hosting a series of drug and drinking parties for teenagers at her home.

Lackawanna County Judge Michael J. Barrasse sentenced Erica King, 40, of 318 Mooney St., to county prison followed by 90 days' house arrest.

At the time of her arrest in April, borough police said Ms. King also kissed a 17-year-old boy during one of the parties, took the teen to her bedroom and had sex with him.

She was originally charged with two counts of corruption of minors and one count of providing alcohol to minors, though prosecutors later amended the charges and dropped one of the corruption of minors counts.

She pleaded guilty in July to one count of corruption of minors and one count of providing alcohol to minors.

Police interviewed six teenagers who claimed alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs were available at her home.

Judge Barrasse admonished Ms. King on Tuesday for not accepting responsibility for the incidents during her pre-sentence investigation several months ago. She stated at the time, according to the judge, that the case against her amounted to nothing more than "rumors and gossip" and that she "didn't do these terrible things."

After the judge finished his remarks, Ms. King apologized.

She was then handcuffed and escorted out of the courthouse by sheriff's deputies.

According to police, her home was called a "party house" for people under 21 years old.

Judge Barrasse further ordered her to serve five years of probation.
