Superstorm drive in Archbald begins

ARCHBALD - A 10-day relief drive for Superstorm Sandy victims kicked off at the Municipal Building and will continue through next week. A Kane Is Able trailer to be filled with donations was placed in front of the building, 400 Church St., and will be driven to an American Red Cross point in the New York and New Jersey area.

Radio station helps with Pantry Raid

SCRANTON - A Times-Shamrock Communications radio station is teaming up with a local supermarket to help local food banks stock their shelves during its annual Pantry Raid.

Rock 107 DJs DiRienzo and Prospector will be collecting nonperishable food in front of Gerrity's Supermarkets throughout the week from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m..

The two will be at the Gerrity's at 2280 Sans Souci Parkway in Hanover Twp. today, 4015 Birney Avenue in Moosic on Thursday, and at 100 Old Lackawanna Trail in Clarks Summit on Friday. All food will be split between St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen in Scranton and the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre.

Deadline for art contest extended

SCRANTON - The deadline for Marley's Mission second annual art contest has been extended to Nov. 28 to allow more children to participate in the First Friday show case of the artwork.

The theme is "What Does a Forever Home Mean to You?" and is open to children from kindergarten to 12th grade. Visit www.marleysmission.com/gala-art/ for guidelines and entry forms.
