Marywood holds memory screening
DUNMORE - As part of national Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month, Marywood University will provide free, confidential memory screenings and information about aging today.
The university's doctoral program in clinical psychology will provide the screenings at the Psychological Services Center on campus from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
As many as 5.1 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior.
Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks, according to the Alzheimer's Association.
