DUNMORE - Borough Councilwoman Carol Scrimalli isn't sure where she will be for Dunmore's 175th anniversary, so it is important to make its 150th a year to remember.
She and dozens of other borough residents capped off a year of picnics, fireworks and fun at the borough's Sesquicentennial Gala at La Buona Vita Saturday night.
Cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dancing ended the year on the right note, she said.
"It's been a wonderful year," she said. "Everyone that we spoke with thought they are so proud to be a part of this borough."
Geralyn Swinick, 53, is one of those proud residents. She said people dancing the night away in suits and dresses seemed a fitting conclusion to a year so long in the making.
"I thought it would be a nice way to end it," Ms. Swinick said.
Tickets to attend were $55 with all proceeds going toward borough events, such as their annual summer program, Ms. Swinick said.
Santa Clauses, floral arrangements and polo shirts bearing a borough seal underneath a 150-year stamp were also raffled off Saturday to raise money for the borough.
Reflecting, Ms. Scrimalli said it had been a long year, but each bead of sweat had been worth it to put on all of the events for the borough.
"It's an honor," Ms. Scrimalli said. "I'm happy to do it."
