A number of uncontested state House races were held throughout the region in Tuesday's general election.
In the 113th Legislative District, Democrat Marty Flynn collected 19,262 votes at press time, according to unofficial open returns. The district consists of parts of Scranton, South Abington Twp. and the boroughs of Clarks Green, Moosic, Taylor and Throop.
In the spring primary election, Mr. Flynn narrowly defeated incumbent Kevin Murphy, who was first elected to office in 2008.
In the 114th Legislative District, incumbent Democrat Sid Michaels Kavulich, who earned the Democratic and Republican nominations in the spring primary, earned 23,329 votes. The 114th covers parts of Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties.
In the 117th Legislative District, Republican incumbent Karen Boback tallied 23,819 votes. In the spring primary, she mounted a successful write-in campaign to beat Mark "Duke" Barrett in the Democratic primary. The 117th includes the Back Mountain, Mountaintop and Shickshinny - areas of Luzerne County, Benton and Berwick areas in Columbia County and southeastern Wyoming County, including Tunkhannock.
In the 139th Legislative District, which covers parts of Wayne County, including the borough of Honesdale, as well as parts of Monroe and Pike counties, Republican incumbent Michael Peifer tallied 11,245 votes. He also ran unopposed in the spring.
In the 110th Legislative District, which encompasses parts of Susquehanna and Bradford counties, along with all of Sullivan County, Republican Tina Pickett collected 15,289 votes. She ran uncontested in the spring.
The winners will serve two-year terms in Harrisburg. The base salary for House members is $82,026.
