An Earhart Award for Capt. Martin
Cadet Capt. Felicia Martin has been presented with the Civil Air Patrol's Amelia Earhart Award.
The award honors the late aviatrix, advocate and pioneer who set many records for women in aviation's infancy, and who was lost while attempting to be the first woman to circumnavigate the globe. It marks the second milestone of the CAP Cadet Program.
The Earhart Award is earned after the receipt of the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award and the completion of an 11-question examination covering aerospace topics, leadership theory and staff duties. Felicia and other cadets who receive the Earhart Award are eligible to apply for International Air Cadet Exchange. The cadet squadron commander of the Wayne Composite Squadron 201, Felicia is a student at Scranton Prep.
Squadron members receiving promotions at a ceremony conducted by Cindy Klenk representing state Sen. John P. Blake, include Cadet Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Austin, Cadet Master Sgt. Richard Molner Jr. and Senior Master Sgt. Michael Pope III.
The squadron's Cadet Senior Airman Nicholas Humphreys, a senior at Lakeland High School, attended the Air Force Academy Summer Seminar Program for a week in June.
