Absentee voters given extension
SCRANTON - Absentee voters in Lackawanna County will have extra time to return their ballots to the Department of Elections.
Gov. Tom Corbett has extended until Monday at 5 p.m. the deadline for absentee ballots to be received in Lackawanna and other counties that had Superstorm Sandy-related office closures.
The original deadline was today at 5 p.m.
Marion Medalis, county director of elections, said the elections office at 2400 Stafford Ave. will remain open until 5 on Monday to accept completed, voted absentee ballots.
