Every time the phone rings, Tom Price Sr. hopes it is someone with good news about his wife, who has been missing since Saturday.
But so far, it is always neighbors asking for an update.
"Every time I hear that phone ring, I think 'please let that be her, please let that be her,' " Mr. Price, 71, said.
His wife, Sharon Price, 62, was last seen about 6 p.m. Saturday at a hair salon at 1431 Luzerne St. She was supposed to walk home to Rear 414 14th Ave., but never arrived.
"It is a five-minute walk," Mr. Price said.
Mrs. Price is partially blind and suffers from schizophrenia, but she has been on the "right track" with her medication, so Mr. Price does not think she got lost. She is a "homebody" and is not the type to get caught up in small talk with neighbors on the way back or to get into a car with a stranger.
Scranton acting Police Chief Carl Graziano said police have been searching for her since she went missing and will continue to do so.
Police urge residents in the area to check out-of-the-way places on their properties, such as garages and sheds.
"Check your properties and yards just to be safe," Chief Graziano said. "Areas you don't access every day."
Karin Foster, president of the West Scranton Hyde Park Neighborhood Watch, said members of the watch, along with Mr. Price's neighbors, have been helping out with the search, too.
"We have people out looking when they have time to go out, when they're not working," Ms. Foster said. "I am very concerned for her and her husband right now."
Mrs. Price is 5 feet 3 inches tall and was last seen wearing a pink shirt, black pants and blue shoes.
Since she went missing, there has rarely been a moment Mr. Price has not sat by his phone, waiting for a call.
"I'm a nervous wreck," Mr. Price said.
