Authorities are working to identify a set of human remains that were discovered Monday afternoon.
According to the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office, the remains were found in a wooded area near North Township Boulevard and Rachel Avenue in Pittston Twp. around 2:05 p.m.
The remains were deteriorated and appeared to have been at the location for an extended period of time, officials said.
The coroner said the remains have yet to be identified and that state police, along with the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office, are investigating.
