DALLAS — After working as a pharmaceutical sales representative for 10 years, Tim Norconk decided to open his own business in Dallas selling CBD products.

CBD, or cannabid oil, is a compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD products have become popular locally since medical marijuana was legalized in Pennsylvania in 2016.

His store called “Your CBD Store” recently opened next to Lakeway Beverage on Route 118 as CBD products have become all the rage throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.

The new Dallas store is the first in the Your CBD Store chain to open in Luzerne County, the 523rd in the chain. He sells SunMed CBD products made from hemp grown in the U.S. ranging from oil tinctures, bath bombs and topical creams to edibles, pet products and beauty products.

While CBD is extracted from the flowers and buds of marijuana or hemp plants, Norconk said it does not produce the “high” that the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, causes.

CBD has a number of medical benefits, Norconk said. Patients have told him that CBD can help with pain, anxiety, depression and insomnia.

“Our patients come to us with a number of different ailments and they come back telling us that it has helped a lot in a number of different ways,” he said. “There are about 40 different ailments it’s possibly going to help, including MS (multiple sclerosis), Parkinson’s disease and some cancer treatments.”

Inside the new store, Norconk displayed the products he sells on shelves under the letters CBD. No prescription is needed to buy the products.

Among the products, he showed CBD oil tinctures that could be placed under the tongue for 30 to 90 seconds twice daily and range in price from $40 to $110 depending on the milligrams and strength. He also sells $15 CBD bath bombs which he said could help with pain or relaxation.

“CBD can be absorbed into your body topically. This is something you could do to get some CBD in you,” he said. “CBD is best taken in you or on you.”

On another shelf, he showed “roll-ons” and topical creams which he said are among his most popular sellers that also range in price from $40 to $110.

“Many people tell me they use these for arthritis and they definitely help,” he said. “The cream could be put anywhere. Many people use it for headaches and migraines. You could put it on your temples and your forehead and that could definitely help a great deal. These work really well if there is a local pain like if just your elbow is hurting or your knee is hurting.”

On other shelves, Norconk displayed CBD edibles he sells such as vegan gummy bears, honey sticks and hard candies, CBD oil tinctures for pets and CBD beauty products that include body lotions, lip balms and collagen cream.

Norconk opened Your CBD Store inside the former Pisano Family Wines business. He is leasing the space from John Kaschenbach, owner of Lakeway Beverage who owns the building

Kaschenbach said he wishes Norconk well with his new business and he said his own personal experience with CBD is that “it works.”
