Police arrested a Scranton man Wednesday for threatening a former coworker, officers said.
Officers responded to Arlington Industries, 1 Stauffer Industrial Park, at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man displaying a gun and threatening a forklift operator, according to a criminal complaint. The man left the scene, but workers told police that Ramses A. Figueroa, 43, 409 Palm St., exchanged words with the forklift operator and unzipped his fanny pack as if he were reaching for a weapon, police said. The operator said he saw the handle of a gun.
Figueroa, who was previously fired from the company, told police he reached into his fanny pack to grab two knives to protect himself. He denied having a gun but later said he kept a BB gun in his fanny pack, according to the complaint.
He is charged with criminal trespass and making terroristic threats. He remains in Lackawanna County Prison on $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.
