WILKES-BARRE
The Luzerne County Transportation Authority board of directors appointed longtime authority employee Lee Horton as interim executive director on Wednesday, one day after terminating the employment of former executive director Norm Gavlick.
Horton has worked for the authority for eight years and has been operations director for the past six years, according to an LCTA news release.
Gavlick, who blamed his termination on retaliation from LCTA board members over the authority’s controversial rebranding initiative, said he spoke with attorney Kim Borland on Wednesday and plans to pursue legal action related to his termination.
Gavlick again disputed board members’ claims that they did not know he planned to unveil the authority’s new branding name — Northeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, or NEPTA — at an Aug. 1 press conference.
