A double milestone for Allied's Paddock
The director of the vocational services division at Allied Services Integrated Health System has reached two milestones in his career with the company.
James Paddock, who celebrated his 40th anniversary working with Allied's vocational division, was surprised during a staff meeting by an announcement from attorney Bill Conaboy, president/CEO of Allied Services Integrated Health System. James learned he received the 2012 Charles Luger Memorial Employee Award.
The Luger award is being presented to James for demonstrating outstanding commitment and dedication to Allied Services, and exemplifying the very ideals of the National Rehabilitation Awareness Celebration.
Staff members present during the announcement included Bob Ames, senior vice president, community services; Mike Aviasato, senior vice president/CFO; Ron Douglas, Margy Fiscus, Michelle Kinney, Diane LaCoe, Don Lapinski, Barbara Locks, Mike Marianelli, Diane Miller, Bernie Naughton, Don Peters, Lisa Povilitus and Karen Roberto.
Formal presentation of the award will be made this month.
Super students
Josh Dixon of Fleetville and Joe Kohut of Carbondale were among the 19 students from the golf course turfgrass management program in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences who had the rare opportunity to get hands-on experience at the highest level of golf when they helped prepare and maintain the links for the Ryder Cup tournament in Chicago. Josh and Joe were among volunteers who worked with the grounds crew at Medinah Country Club. ... Jake Stamatis of Tunkhannock is working as an intern this fall for the office of cross-cultural programs at at Susquehanna University. A senior majoring in music performance, Jake's responsibilities include advising students to help them choose their study abroad program, facilitating information sessions and assisting with pre-departure orientation workshops with the advisement of Scott Manning, the director of cross-cultural programs. Jake is a 2009 graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School and is the son of Barbara and Paul Stamatis.

Bob Andrejko and Jim Besket were the winners when the fifth annual Thomas J. Casey Memorial Golf Tournament was conducted at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Course in Mountaintop. The Andrejko/Besket pair was part of the championship foursome that included Mike Peregrim and Mark Bartkowski.
