BBC&S honors service at dinner

Faculty, staff, administrators and trustees were celebrated for their years of service when Baptist Bible College and Seminary conducted its annual trustees dinner.

Jim Lytle, vice president and provost, and Matt Pollock, dean of students, were each honored for their 20 years at the school during the event in the Phelps Student Center. Kristi Parker, administrative assistant for distance education, was honored for her 15 years service.

Trustees Larry Green and Karen Logan were recognized for 10 years on the board, and Paul Auckland and Pat Nemmers for five.

Employees recognized for 10 years included Elaine Brown, associate professor; Ritch Kelley, professor; Bonnie McCall, part-time professor; Stacey Shaw, administrative assistant to Project Jerusalem, and Mel Walker, vice president for enrollment and external relations.

Five year awards were given to John Best, associate professor; Tom Cragoe, professor; Ken Knelly, executive director of communications and marketing; Diane Lytle, adjunct instructor and director, LYFE Women's Conference; Sarah Nippert, library administrative assistant; Amy Heitner, executive administrative assistant to the president's office, and Kathy Steenback, office manager of maintenance.

Golfing for vets

Local wounded warrior Sgt. Nick Zwicker was the beneficiary as the Hideout hosted its Fall Classic Golf Tournament. The event, which raises funds to assist wounded veterans was sponsored by Hideout residents Frank Ciampa and Dave and Michelle Miles and raised approximately $3,600 for Sgt. Zwicker. Hideout resident Bob Wiegand and his co-chairman Bill Wagner from the Help a Hero Fund made a donation of $500. The Hideout also conducts a yearly Tribute to the Troops, which raised $13,000 this year to send packages to troops overseas, and $3,500 for Wounded Warriors.

High notes

The Radisson at Lackawanna Station hotel was the setting as new members were inducted into the Scranton Business and Professional Women's Club by Jeanie Sluck, president; and Barbara Blasi Partyka, membership chairwoman.

The ladies also listened as Jill Giomboni of the American Cancer Society gave a presentation on "Cancer Facts for the 21st Century."

Members new and old on hand to join in the festivities included Mary Beth D'Andrea, Mary DePalma, Gloria Donato, Joanne Durdach, Mary Anne Maloney Evans, Jill Giomboni, JoAnn Romano Hallesky, Shirley Helbing, Victoria Lance, Treat LaRusso, Lindsey Loss, Cindy Mickavicz, Barbara Noto, Susan Thomas and Francie Walters.
